The Meadow Homeowner’s Association
The first "unoffical" meeting of the Association took place Aug 3rd at the Fitzpatrick’s. Those present were: Roger Salava, Jim and Colleen Fitzpatrick, Chris and Dave Wentzel, Bill and Kay McTigue, Paul Ossenbruggen, Cathy and Dick Mills, Marion and Bob Bestani, Virginia Fitzpatrick, Charlie Raeburn.
The major items discussed were:
- The Association has to retain its unofficial status until at least 15 homes have been sold to reach the required 75% of the minimum of 19 potential homes. Presently 10 homes are sold; nine were in attendance at the meeting.
- The Moody Point Board has asked for a representative from The Meadow to be an active, voting member of their Board. One objective for this first meeting was to elect officers for the Association so that The Meadow had "official" representation of its members and could represent the owners on the Moody Point Board.
- The officers elected were:
Jim Fitzpatrick – President
Charlie Raeburn – Secretary
Dick Mills – Treasurer
- The second objective of the meeting was to discuss the need for a view maintenance plan and for written guidelines regarding what can be done to maintain property owners’ views to the water. Concern was expressed regarding the Environmental Committee’s lack of visible progress in this area and there is an immediate opportunity to link up with a plan being formulated by the Waterfront Condos.
- Bill McTigue had walked around lot 4 with Earl Chase, the forester contracted by the Waterfront Condos to develop a maintenance plan. Bill felt Earl had a good understanding of the applicable laws, was practical, and seemed to understand some of the political issues to be addressed. Earl also stated he felt the approach Amos started on the East side of the development was very effective.
- Several questions were raised which will need to be addressed at a later time –
How do we ensure the Waterfront approach is the plan adopted by Moody Point (ie avoid 2 plans)?
What will the cost be and how does it get shared "equitably"?
Should the abutters to lot 4 have more of a say in what happens to the lot?
- The Association agreed to support the Waterfront approach and share in its cost, subject to finding out the cost.
